About me.
I’m Sara, a historian and accredited Green Badge City Walking Tour Guide for Oxford and Plymouth, as well as a Blue Badge Guide for Devon and Cornwall. I specialise in bringing local heritage to life through engaging, research‑driven storytelling that connects people, places, and the past in meaningful ways.
My academic journey began at the University of Kent, where I studied Italian and History, developing a deep appreciation for cultural history, narrative traditions, and the power of place. In 2020, I graduated from Brasenose College, University of Oxford, with an MSc in Learning and Teaching, strengthening my ability to interpret complex histories and communicate them clearly and engagingly to a wide range of audiences.
This combination of historical training, teaching experience, and professional guiding accreditation allows me to offer thoughtful, informed tours — whether in the historic streets of Oxford, the maritime landscapes of Plymouth, or across the towns, coastlines, and countryside of Devon and Cornwall.
Oxford remains a significant part of my life. I spend much of my time in the city, often staying aboard my narrowboat in Jericho—a lively canalside community that continually inspires my work. As an Oxford Green Badge Guide, I share the city’s scholarly, architectural, and cultural stories with visitors from around the world.
At the same time, my work in the South West—particularly as a Plymouth Green Badge Guide—allows me to explore and interpret the region’s rich maritime, military, and social history. Whether leading tours across Plymouth’s historic waterfront or uncovering overlooked narratives of the wider South West, I am committed to making history meaningful, accessible, and memorable.
Grounded in scholarship, passionate about place, and dedicated to high‑quality interpretation, I help visitors experience both Oxford and the South West with fresh insight and curiosity.
I am a member of the Oxford Guild of Tour Guides. The Guild provides ongoing training and opportunities for members to take private tours to some of the best sites in the city.
What my guests say about my tours.

That was brilliant yesterday, Sara, thank you! Great mix of history and Potter lore that appealed to the whole family (and the locals as well as the visitors).
Richard and Chrissy (Oxford and New Zealand).
Thanks again for everything yesterday! Was an absolute highlight for us.
Laurie (USA).
We have now arrived home, after our Oxford adventure, and wanted thank you for your time and for taking us around on the two tours.
Cannot recommend Sara enough ! We had a great time despite persistent downpours. Her experience at Oxford as well as her background as a teacher and historian were the perfect match to provide an awesome experience.
Colleen and Dan (USA and London).
We both really enjoyed the experience and knowledge offered!
Kent (UK).
We'd like to thank Sara for an immensely informative and enjoyable tour.
David and Neil (Canada).
Our two hour tour was so informative and laced with humour and incite, Sara was a former student and had graduated at Oxford and knew so much of the behind the scenes life it made it more than just a history book tour.
(Staffs).
Sara catered to our specific interests. It was a really great way to see Oxford and to learn about the city’s history. Sara had an incredible knowledge of the city and shared fascinating stories that you can’t find in guidebooks or online.
